Which God Saves Us home Something From The News home

Which god?    God or god?

“Thou shalt have no other god before me.”  (Exodus 20:3 KJV)

According to their own web site - Planned Parenthood performed 333,964 abortions in 2010.
That’s nearly one thousand every day of the year.

After the flood in Genesis, God made a new covenant with Noah and his sons:

Ge 9:1 Then God blessed Noah and his sons, saying to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth.  2 The fear and dread of you will fall upon all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air, upon every creature that moves along the ground, and upon all the fish of the sea; they are given into your hands.  3 Everything that lives and moves will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything.

Ge 9:4 “But you must not eat meat that has its lifeblood still in it.  5 And for your lifeblood I will surely demand an accounting. I will demand an accounting from every animal. And from each man, too, I will demand an accounting for the life of his fellow man.

Ge 9:6 “Whoever sheds the blood of man,

by man shall his blood be shed;

for in the image of God

has God made man.

Ge 9:7 As for you, be fruitful and increase in number; multiply on the earth and increase upon it.”

Not sure God would be real happy about this “God bless you” to Planned Parenthood.  The best you can say is that Planned Parenthood is responsible for preventing the lives of 1,000 “potential people” every single day.  The worst you can say is that they shed the blood of 1,000 of God’s people every single day.

The killer phrase here (pun most definitely intended) - And from each man, too, I will demand an accounting for the life of his fellow man.
And the real issue here is that it’s not some Planned Parenthood definition of “life” -
not some advertising from their web site like

Abortion is a safe and legal way to end pregnancy.

No - it’s God’s definition of life.

But -
is there any evidence that even God’s definition of life has anything to do with the moment of birth and not during the pregnancy?

After giving Moses the 10 Commandments, God also said this to Moses in Exodus 21:1 -

Ex 21:1 “These are the laws you are to set before them:

One of those laws is given in  Exodus 21:22-25 -

Ex 21:22 “If men who are fighting hit a pregnant woman and she gives birth prematurely but there is no serious injury, the offender must be fined whatever the woman’s husband demands and the court allows.  23 But if there is serious injury, you are to take life for life,  24 eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,  25 burn for burn, wound for wound, bruise for bruise.

Uh Oh - not sounding good for Abortion is a safe and legal way to end pregnancy -
at least not in God’s view.

How about another example?
In Isaiah 44:1-5 - God is telling Jacob and the people if Israel how He will take care of them.
God starts off with -

Is 44:1 “But now listen, Jacob, my servant,
Israel, whom I have chosen.
2 This is what the Lord says—
he who made you, who formed you in the womb,
and who will help you:
Do not be afraid, Jacob, my servant,
Jeshurun,whom I have chosen.
3 For I will pour water on the thirsty land,
and streams on the dry ground;
I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring,
and my blessing on your descendants.

Uh Oh - more bad news for those hoping to believe Abortion is a safe and legal way to end pregnancy.
Here God says -
he who made you, who formed you in the womb, and who will help you.

Let’s take a step back to Deuteronomy to see what God has to say about those who go against him -
like those who are so sure that
Abortion is a safe and legal way to end pregnancy.
God gave The Song of Moses to Moses shortly before his death.
Moses - in turn - sang it to the people.
Part of it includes the following - Dt 32:39-42 -

Dt 32:39 “See now that I myself am He!

There is no god besides me.

I put to death and I bring to life,

I have wounded and I will heal,

and no one can deliver out of my hand.

Dt 32:40 I lift my hand to heaven and declare:

As surely as I live forever,

Dt 32:41 when I sharpen my flashing sword

and my hand grasps it in judgment,

I will take vengeance on my adversaries

and repay those who hate me.

Dt 32:42 I will make my arrows drunk with blood,

while my sword devours flesh:

the blood of the slain and the captives,

the heads of the enemy leaders.”

Note -

I will take vengeance on my adversaries

and repay those who hate me.

I have to believe that taking a life that God formed in the womb would qualify someone for being an adversary.  In the worst case - where the person knows better - but tries to hide behind the false belief that Abortion is a safe and legal way to end pregnancy - certainly qualifies one for hating God.

OK -
someone’s surely screaming at me that abortion is legal.

Well - depending on what state you live in -
and how far along the pregnancy is -
it may be legal according to the laws of that state.

But -
I’m not talking about the laws of the state -
the laws of man.
I’m talking about the laws of God.

And yes -
we do have the free will to ignore God’s laws -
we do have the ability to claim His laws don’t apply to us -
we do have the ability to claim His laws are outdated -
in the end -
He created us (not the other way around - much as we may try) -
He has the authority and ability to define His laws in His ways -
He has the ability to carry out either Salvation or vengeance on each of us.

Speaking of Salvation -

Is there salvation for someone who takes part in an abortion?|
Absolutely -
if we ask for salvation from Jesus -
since He already paid the price -
and if we truly believe this in our hearts -
God loves us -
each of us -
and salvation through Jesus is absolutely there for us -
all of us -
including someone performing an abortion or having one done.

Speaking of Love -

Didn’t I just say that God loves all of us?
And didn’t I just say that includes people involved in an abortion?

Again - Absolutely.

Again - He also requires us to ask for -
and truly mean it -
Salvation through Jesus.
Part of that involves accepting Jesus as our Lord and Saviour.
Part of that includes following God’s laws -
and part of that means no more abortions -
because in God’s view -

Abortion is a safe and legal way to end pregnancy -
but is against His law
because -

Ge 9:6 “Whoever sheds the blood of man,
by man shall his blood be shed;
for in the image of God
has God made man.

Is 44:2 This is what the Lord says—
he who made you, who formed you in the womb,
and who will help you:

Therefore -
we have to know and realize that God says -

I will take vengeance on my adversaries

and repay those who hate me.

This may seem like a good place to end -
and I certainly don’t want the message so far to get lost -
but there’s more.

Given the theme of this site -
which “god” saves us?
There’s yet another question.

When the president says essentially - God Bless Planned Parenthood!
Which “god” is he talking about?

One could give him the benefit of the doubt and assume it’s the God of the Bible.

Yes - we can certainly do that.
However - that assumption leads to some conclusions that mean it cannot possible be true:

  1. The God that says He breathed life into us in the womb cannot be the “god” that would bless an organization that terminates 1,000 of those lives every single day.  He can’t be blessing an organization that is snuffing out so many lives that He breathed into existence.
That means Obama is wrong about which “god”.  It isn’t God - it’s some other “god”.
  2. Unless - maybe Obama doesn’t know who God is.  Maybe he really believes that.
In the end - I’m not sure there’s a distinction worth making between these two point.  Either way - either intentionally or by total ignorance - he’s got some other “god” that he’s asking to bless Planned Parenthood.

On the other hand - maybe he really is intending to pray to some other “god”.
It’s impossible to go there without calling him a liar.
He claims it’s the same God I’m writing about -
the Christian God -
although also the same “god” that Muslims believe in.
Well - there’s a problem there too - because Christians and Muslims have a totally different belief about Jesus (among other things) - and therefore clearly do not believe in the same God.

Again - whether it’s intentional of not - may very well be a mute point.

Ro 1:18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness,  19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them.  20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.

Ro 1:21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.  22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools  23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.

Ro 1:24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another.  25 They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

Ro 1:26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones.  27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.

Ro 1:28 Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done.  29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips,  30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents;  31 they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

Those words are from the Apostle Paul - from Romans 1:18-32 -
and they pretty much sum up what’s happening with -
our president -
planned parenthood -
and others who believe

Abortion is a safe and legal way to end pregnancy

And that nothing else -
including the God who formed us in the womb -
matters at all.

It’s not outdated to think that God still exists -

It’s not outdated to think that God still cares -

It’s not outdated to think that God will have His vengeance.

Just as -
it’s not outdated to think that God loves us - all of us -

it’s not outdated to think that God loves us just as we are.

Maybe surprising to some but it’s also true that -

God loves the woman getting an abortion -

God loves the doctor doing the abortion.

However -

God also loves the baby who’s life is being taken.

God will have vengeance for that life being taken.

Both the doctor and the woman had a choice -
they could perform / have the abortion -
or not.
God gave them the free will to make those choices.
God gave them the free will to decide they were willing to pay the price - His price.

However -
while God will have vengeance for the baby whose life was taken -
there’s also another little baby who should be considered.
One that came into the world a couple thousand years ago -
One who has already paid the price -
One upon who God has already extracted his vengeance -

And so -
there’s another choice here -
for both the woman and the doctor -
they still - even after the event -
get to choose who pays the price.
Will God’s vengeance be taken again - this time on them -
or will God’s vengeance be satisfied by the sacrifice that Jesus already made?

Some people reading this may not like what I just wrote -
including the part about God’s salvation for the woman and even the doctor -
but you know what?

He’s God -
we aren’t.

It’s His rules -
and they all apply to us -
not just the ones we like.

Whether we want to be the one deciding the abortion is really OK with God -
Whether we want to be the one deciding that there’s no redemption after an abortion -
neither of these is like the case.
As I see it -
God says when life starts -
God says who gets salvation -
and there’s nothing we can do about it -
absolutely nothing.

You know what -
that’s a really good thing too -
because somewhere -
someone exists who believes that each and every one of us has done something that makes us undeserving of God’s salvation.

And we know where that message comes from - Satan.

So -
in closing -

God bless the people at Planned Parenthood.
May God make His presence obvious to them.
May God allow them to see the light and turn to Him.

And may God bless the expecting women who go to Planned Parenthood.
May God show them that there are alternatives to abortion.
May God be with both the woman - and her baby -
and lead both of them to a life lived for the One who formed both of them in the womb.

Which “god” is leading your life?

June 15, 2013

“Thank you, Planned Parenthood. God bless you.”

Just in case you haven’t seen it -
this quote is from President Obama.

Would God Bless Planned Parenthood?
